2020 Temperature Sweater Progress

Hello and Happy New Year!

Welcome to my first blog of the year and this blog will be following my temperature sweater pattern. Everyone has heard of a temperature blanket - where you plan out colors and its corresponding temperatures. Then you choose to follow the low or the high of each day for the entire year. By the end of the year, you can have a very good size blanket that depicts that entire year's temperatures. It's kind of like a story of colors for that particular year. Each blanket is unique because you dictate what colors you want to use and temperature as you know is unpredictable. That's what make temperature blankets fun. 

I have designed a temperature blanket pattern for this year but instead of the usual garter stitch I chose a very simple but interesting texture pattern to follow. I've also created a tapestry option for those who don't want to knit/crochet a blanket. The tapestry option is similar to the blanket pattern but instead of casting on the full width of a blanket, your tapestry is roughly 5 - 6 inches wide. You will follow the same stitch pattern but at the end of each quarter you will finish it with garter rows (so it that it matches the beginning) then bind off. Then you will cast on for each quarter and continue the daily pattern. At year's end you will have 4 separate lengths of knitted/crocheted sections. Then you can choose to hang each quarter on the wall from a curtain rod. It's like a wall hanging of hand made art. 

The third option I came up with is a temperature sweater. I always like to challenge myself and do something completely out of the box. So I chose a  simple raglan style, top down sweater pattern using fingering weight yarn, picked out 12 colors and will knit two rows each day. I'm crossing my fingers that it will turn out just fine (if I did my math calculations right) and I'll end up with the most awesome and unique sweater.
